Who we are and what we have to offer.

lake wildwood

Lake Wildwood Association was established on March 3rd, 1968. It is a private, gated community that is centrally located between Chicago and Peoria, just north of Varna, Illinois. With over 1,400 acres of land, our country setting is abundant with wildlife such as deer, fox, hawks, geese, owls, ducks, bluebirds, racoons, coyotoes, and more!
"A Tranquil Community"
Lake Wildwood boasts two lakes. The largest, Lake Wildwood, is 220 acres and offers boating, fishing and swimming. Lake Tanglewood is 18 acres and is strictly a fishing lake located near our private campground.

Lake Wildwood Association is a homeowner's association, governed by Restrictive Covenants, By-Laws, and Rules and Regulations. Members of the Association pay annual dues which entitles them to full use of all amenities.

Throughout the year our Recreation Committee hosts a wide variety of events and activities, some of which include: Easter Egg Hunt, Fourth of July Fireworks and Parade, Autumnfest, Halloween Bash, Christmas Family Event, New Year's Eve Dance, and much more!

Lake Wildwood Association is a gated community, meaning access to the Development is granted to members of the Association and their guests only through proper procedures. Guest access without proper entry authorization will not be granted.

The security and safety of our members is of the utmost importance. With this in mind, Lake Wildwood has 24hr security at the main Gate and patrol units throughout the Development. Security personnel are available at the main Gate day and night to provide assistance our members.

The Rules and Regulations manual (often refered to as the 'Redbook') and the Restrictive Covenants and By-Laws manual (often refered to as the 'Bluebook') must be followed by all persons within the Development. These manuals can be found under the documents section of the website.

In November, Lake Wildwood Association mails members the yearly Association dues (payable no later than March 1st of the following year). Payment of dues allows members full access to the Development's amentities and provides the necessary resources to operate the Association on a day-to-day basis.

Association dues are currently $775.00. A breakdown of the dues can be found below:

New Swimming Pool Fund
During the 2015 due's year, the Board of Directors approved a new swimming pool for Lake Wildwood Association.

Lake Wildwood
The larger of the two lakes, Lake Wildwood is 220 acres and perfect for boating, skiing, and tubing. Two swimming beaches, East beach and West beach, offer a relaxing atmosphere for members and their guests to soak in the summer sun.

Our seasonal marina rental slips, Arrowhead lodge, marina concession stand, and fish cleaning station are located at the east beach (also known as beach 1). A watercraft launch is located near the marina rental slips.

The west beach (also known as beach 2) is located south of the Dam, offering picnic tables and a secondary watercraft launch location.

Lake Tanglewood
Nestled in the north-eastern part of the Development, Lake Tanglewood is an 18 acre lake used primarily for fishing. Watercraft units with trolling motors only are allowed on Tanglewood.

Arrowhead Lodge
Located just off Lake Wildwood near the east beach, Arrowhead Lodge is a 3,600sq. ft. facility used for various types of functions and activities throughout the year. The lodge is available for rental (at a cost) by members for private functions and events.

Both Tanglewood and Wildwood offer great spots for fishing. Some types of fish stocked include large and small mouth bass, white bass, walleye, muskie, catfish, bluegill, crappie, bullhead, and more. Creel limits are in place to promote a healthy aquatic environment for our fish.

Our private campground can be found just north of Lake Tanglewood, near the dam. We offer both seasonal and daily electric and non-electric sites to members and their guests.
